where'd you get your engine hoist?

yup, i'm gonna need a hoist..i'm just lookin for ideas..where'd you get yours..did you rent or buy..and how much? thanks for the help.

You should look around for a local trailer park with a few dometics in the yards...those guys always have engine hoists...usually with an engine still attached - then offer the guy cash money to buy or rent it...he might even deliver it to you in his '75 Ford F-150 daily driver since his '88 Mustang 302 motor isn't running (remember...its motor is on the hoist, and has been the last 4 years )

well..i kinda want to stay away from the trailer parks right now..there were a few tornadoes a few weeks ago (which is damn rare in VA) and i want to stay safe
but i'll keep my eyes open

my dad found mine cheap at an auction...I rented it the first time, but it ended up costing more to rent (like $125) for a week than to buy a used one. try Harbor Freight..they have em pretty cheap. buy it and sell it when your done and make most of your money back

I guess I am kind of lucky...my neighbor has one and he lets me borrow it whenever I need it. But I would try to rent it or find someone who has one. Renting will probably be the best option.

Look in the yellow pages for a rental place. I'm sure you could rent one for a day for like $20. I used to work at a hardware store that rented them for less than that.

They run anything form $350-450 if you buy them outright. But make sure they are not going to charge you for shipping. If they do not nromally carry them in stock, forget buying it through them. You'd be better finding a place within a city or two that does and get that one.

I'll be getting one here shortly. I have an Accord Transmission to change and a D16Z6 Swap to verify. I'll let you know if I rememebr this post. The one I am getting is the more expensive collapsable version.

...make sure you get some good chain as well....when we just did my swap, we used a 30 year old bike lock and a chain off of a hammock. haha. it was definitely ghetto and slipped more than once
